A third of Irish people are sleep deprived. 62% of us are more moody when deprived of sleep.
According to research carried out by bed manufacturer, Kaymed, 32% of Irish people get less than 6 hours sleep every night. The majority of those are aged 36-55. Far from being the twenty somethings who are burning the candle at both ends, its the mid-career, family-rearing generation that is the most sleep deprived!
Only 23% of us manage to get the recommended 8 hours sleep per night.
When asked what interrupts a good nights sleep?
Its surprising that people are allowing their sleep to be affected by factors that can be easily controlled. Obviously family and career worries are not easy to overcome. But we can control the temperature of our room by changing the tog of the quilt, or by lowering the thermostat. Or we can update our bedding by buying comfortable bedding and pillows.
