Caring for your duvet and pillows

A goosedown duvet and pillow can last up to 20 years, so it makes sense to look after your investment. Heres how:

  • Air your duvet and pillows regularly; try and get into the habit of hanging them on the line to air once every six months. This is to expel any moisture that may have accummulated.
  • We dont recommend that you wash your goosedown duvet and pillows at home; this is because they can take excessive amounts of time to dry. We recommend you have your duvet and pillows cleaned by a specialist once a year. Dry cleaning is not recommended because of residual solvent fumes, but your local dry cleaner should be able to offer assistance.

The life span of a synthetic duvet and pillows is 3 to 10 years. You can stretch it to the 10 year mark if you follow our advice:

  • Its a good idea to wash your duvet occasionally to refresh the filling which accummulates moisture and dust. Duvets should be washed in a large capacity machine, so get into the habit of taking your duvet to your local launderette and feel the difference.
  • Spundown duvets can be washed at home. All sizes of this duvet will fit into a domestic washing machine.
  • Like goosedown, it is also a good idea to air your duvet and pillows regularly; try and get into the habit of hanging them on the line to air once every six months. This is to expel any moisture that may have accummulated.
